According to party insiders, the RJD supremo will be in Patna for a few days but mass gatherings may be avoided due to his health issues.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad is likely to reach Patna on Friday after being in Delhi for a long time following his kidney transplant surgery in Singapore in December last year.

With the news of Prasad’s arrival, the RJD workers, who have been waiting for him for a long time in the state capital, are jubilant and are now preparing for his grand welcome.

Tej Pratap Yadav, Bihar’s Environment, Forest and Climate Change minister and the RJD supremo’s elder son, tweeted on Thursday, “Father is coming to Patna, we have a lot of work.”

According to party insiders, the RJD supremo will be in Patna for a few days, but public meetings may be avoided due to his health-related reasons.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav Met the RJD chief on Thursday at the residence of his daughter and Rajya Sabha MP Misa Bharti in New Delhi. The meeting took place after the Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar And his deputy, Tejashwi Yadav, had met the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister in Lucknow on April 25.

RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad is expected to play a key role in uniting the opposition parties ahead of the upcoming parliamentary and assembly elections in the state. Political observers believe that Prasad’s ability to network with anti-BJP leaders is unique. The RJD is the biggest ally in the Nitish-Kumar-led Grand Alliance government in Bihar.

Kumar is already working to unite all opposition parties ahead of the coming general elections. The grand alliance in Bihar comprising seven parties JD(U), RJD, Congress, CPI(ML), CPI, CPI(M) and HAM has more than 160 MLAs in the 243-strong assembly.
