Lalu Yadav’s daughter Roshni will donate kidney to father

The Singapore-based daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) patriarch Lalu Yadav will donate a kidney to her father, a close family member said on Thursday. The RJD president, who was suffering from several health problems, was advised for a kidney transplant. The 74-year-old politician had returned from Singapore last month where he had gone for treatment for his kidney problem.

His daughter Roshni Acharya, who lives in Singapore, has stepped in to give new life to her father, a family member told PTI news agency.

Yadav is currently in Delhi and out on bail. The former railway minister was jailed for his involvement in fodder cases and was hospitalized several times in Delhi and Ranchi for treatment.

It is not clear where and when kidney transplant surgery will take place.

In September, a Delhi court accepted the RJD chief’s plea to go to Singapore for treatment.

Special Judge (CBI) Gitanjali Goel allowed Prasad to travel abroad from October 10 to October 25.

On September 16, the special CBI court in Ranchi accepted Prasad’s plea seeking issuance of passport.

Meanwhile, RJD’s descendant, Lalu Yadav’s son Tejashwi Yadav has sought special status for the state as a “birthday gift” from his rivals in the BJP, who were wishing him on the occasion.

The RJD leader, who turned 33 on November 9, expressed his wish at a government function, which was also attended by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

“Today is my birthday,” said Yadav, applauding him in the middle of his speech, adding, “Some journalists have reported that several people in the BJP were congratulating me and asked if I would like to ask for a gift”.

The youth leader said, “Special status for Bihar is the biggest gift I can hope for. It will benefit the vast youth population of the state.”

The RJD leader was speaking at a function where appointment letters for recruitment in Science and Technology and Panchayati Raj departments were given.
