Lata Mangeshkar health update: Veteran singer’s condition is improving, informs General Health Minister

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said here on Sunday (January 16) that legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, who is admitted in the ICU of a hospital in Mumbai, is improving. The 92-year-old singer tested positive for coronavirus with mild symptoms and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of South Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital last week.

“Lata Mangeshkar’s condition is improving. I spoke to the Breach Candy hospital officials who updated me about her health. I told her that the hospital spokesperson should give an update on the singer’s condition as people are concerned about her health. Curious to know about.” Tope told reporters in Jalna.

Tope said Breach Candy Hospital may update about the veteran singer’s health after discussing it with her family members.

Earlier in the day, Associate Professor, Breach Candy Hospital, Dr Pratat Samdani told PTI that Mangeshkar is still in the ICU and is undergoing treatment.

Mangeshkar’s niece Rachna Shah had said on Thursday that the singer was doing well and urged the media to respect the privacy of the family.

Regarded as one of the greatest singers of Indian cinema, Mangeshkar began his career in 1942 at the age of 13 and has over 30,000 songs to his name in several Indian languages.
