Lata Mangeshkar hospitalized with COVID-19, family says symptoms are mild

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has tested positive for COVID-19 with mild symptoms and is undergoing treatment at a Mumbai hospital, her niece said on Tuesday.

The 92-year-old veteran, popularly known as the Nightingale of India, was admitted to the ICU of Breach Candy Hospital in south Mumbai two days ago.

“He is mild COVID positive. Considering his age, doctors advised us to keep him in ICU as he needs constant care. And we can’t take any chances. As a family we want the best and want to ensure that she is looked after 24X7,” said Rachna Shah, Mageshkar’s niece.

“She will be fine. But because of her age she is going to take some time. And also, COVID-19 takes seven days…,” he added.
