Lata Mangeshkar’s health deteriorated, on ventilator

The 92-year-old singer was admitted to the ICU of Breach Candy Hospital on January 11 after testing positive for COVID-19.

Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar, who was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai for over a month, worsened on Saturday, her doctor said.

“Lata Mangeshkar-Yes He is in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and is undergoing aggressive treatment. Her condition is critical but she is tolerating and responding to treatment,” said Dr Pratit Samdhani of Breach Candy Hospital, where Ms Mangeshkar is admitted. He is on ventilator support and his condition is critical.

On Saturday, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray visited the hospital but did not speak to the media. Mr Thackeray shares family ties with the Mangeshkar family.

The 92-year-old singer was admitted to the ICU of Breach Candy Hospital on January 11 after testing positive for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. He was put on a ventilator but was removed when he showed signs of improvement.

On January 27, her official Twitter handle was updated with a statement that read, “Lata didi is still under treatment in ICU at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. She was given extubation (off invasive ventilator) this morning. Presently, she is showing signs of improvement, but will be under the supervision of the team of doctors led by Dr Pratat Samdani. We thank each and every one for your prayers and well wishes.”

However, his health deteriorated on 5 February, after which he was again given ventilator support.

Ms Mangeshkar, known as the “Nightingale of India”, is the recipient of the Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian honour.
