Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju announces internship for LLB students

The Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice has started an internship program for law students and graduates. Interested candidates can apply for these internships at the official portal – legalaffairs.gov.in/internship.

Notably, these internship opportunities are available in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Chennai. As per the official notice, these internships will start tentatively from June this year and will end by the month of May next year. Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju announced the internship program on June 1.

He tweeted, “A great opportunity to work in the Department of Legal Affairs as it starts internships for law students for offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Chennai. I am at legalaffairs.gov for this internship. I advise young talents to apply at .in/internship.

Internship with Department of Legal Affairs: Selection Process

The official notice states that the selection of interns will be on a first come first serve basis, however, the availability of slots and the approval of the competent authority will factor in. “All further information will be sent through SMS and email respectively,” read the statement, further mentioning that it will be a full-time internship in which the students will have to physically participate. The intern is not expected to pursue any other course/work during the tenure of the internship.

Internship with Department of Legal Affairs: Eligibility Criteria

Indian students who are in their 2nd or 3rd year of a three year degree course or who are in the 3rd, 4th or 5th year of their five year degree course from any recognized college/law school/university are eligible for these internships can apply. , This internship is also available for candidates who have completed LLB course from any recognized college or law school or university.

Internship with Department of Legal Affairs: How to Apply?

STEP 1. Students desirous of enrolling in the Internship Program in the Department of Legal Affairs must first fill in their application through https://legalaffairs.gov.in/internship/form.php.

Step 2. Submit your relevant documents including No Objection Certificate from your respective College/University.

As per the official notification, a maximum of 10-30 interns are allowed in a month. Interested candidates can apply for these internships at the official portal – legalaffairs.gov.in/internship.
