Learn from other states, ensure that central schemes reach everyone, promote agritech and sports: PM at NDA chief ministers’ meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi He chaired a meeting of Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of Bharatiya Janata Party and National Democratic Alliance-ruled states at the BJP headquarters on Sunday with a focus on the implementation of central government schemes in their states.

The PM reviewed the progress of the works given in the previous meetings of the Chief Minister’s Council in December and January.

Sources said that most of these works have been completed, including visits of the governors to the districts in their respective states which are on the border. “The purpose of these visits was to resolve the internal border issues and as we have seen in the last few months, steps have been taken to resolve the state border lines after extensive consultations,” a source said.

Another task that the PM assigned was for all the ministers to increase their social media presence.

“At least five per cent of the total electorate in the constituency was targeted to be in the form of followers, so that ministers could at least reach out to voters through social media if not in person. And it was assumed that a voter is likely to get engaged to at least five if the engagement takes place,” the source said.

Sources said that a lot of work has been done on the implementation of the national education Policy and plan to provide education in mother tongue, a task which was given by the PM in the last meeting.

States were given the task of replicating Goa’s Swayam Purna scheme, which aims to ensure that every scheme reaches every citizen and no beneficiary is left behind.

“This time also, the PM emphasized on ‘saturation level coverage’ of flagship government schemes like Gati Shakti, Har Ghar Jal and Direct Benefit Transfer. Just two days before this meeting, the Chief Minister of Goa held a review meeting of the state officials. Earlier, the PM had asked the states to study Haryana’s Parivar Pehchan Patra scheme.

In the meeting held in Varanasi in December and again in January also, states were asked to revise the curriculum in agricultural universities along with reforms in agro-technology. However, in Sunday’s meeting, the PM focused on the use of nano fertilizers on crops using govardhan (biodegradable waste) from rural parts of the country.

The Prime Minister had asked the states to organize Parliament Sports Sports Competition and Healthy Child Competition at various levels, and he reviewed their performance.

“The PM is of the view that a lot has to be done to engage youth in every constituency and sports facilities should be upgraded. He also urged that BJP ruled states should be known for promoting sports culture.

In previous meetings, the Prime Minister had asked chief ministers to ensure that towns, villages and towns celebrate their foundation day so that residents feel a sense of belonging.
