LG is reportedly making OLED panels for the Apple iPad Pro – Times of India

LG Reportedly 12.9 in. has started developing OLED panels for apple ipad Ideal. According to a report by The Elek, Apple In 2023 or 2024, LG is preparing to launch two new iPad models with low-power LTPO OLED displays, and LG is developing a panel for that device. The report further states that samsung Apple is also expected to make OLED panels for the device after the deal for the 10.8-inch iPad Air turns sour.
Most OLED panels use a single slack structure where red, green and blue form an emission layer. Apple reportedly sought two stack tandem structures for the iPad OLED panel because it stacks two red, green and blue emission layers that double the brightness and extend the life of the panel by up to four times. Samsung was concerned about the cost of the back-end module process as it only makes single slack panels. LG, on the other hand, applies a two-stack tandem structure to its OLED panels, but the company’s production capacity is relatively low.
LG is reportedly planning to use LTPO TFT technology to manufacture the panels, something Apple had previously sought from Samsung. The panels are expected to use the same Gen 6 substrates used in the iPhone 13 Pro model which should allow the devices to boast of a wider range of refresh rates.
According to various reports, Apple has dropped plans to launch the OLED iPad Air in 2022. The company was planning to have low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) technology in the device, which is expected to arrive in 2023 or later. The iPad Pro is now Apple’s focus when it comes to its range of tablets with OLED displays.
