Liverpool and Ajax via the Coast

Liverpool and Ajax maintained their perfect Champions League record this season to qualify for the last 16 on Wednesday, while Paris Saint-Germain’s squad lacking Lionel Messi was held by RB Leipzig.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool blew Atletico Madrid off in a whirlwind start at Anfield, with Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane winning 2-0 against an opponent in the first 21 minutes, ending with 10 men.

Liverpool are now guaranteed to top the group, seven points away from Porto with two games remaining, while Atletico are a further point in third place. Porto drew 1–1 away from AC Milan as Chancellor Mbemba’s own goal at the San Siro canceled Luis Diaz’s opening opener for the Portuguese side.

Messi missed PSG’s trip to Germany due to injury, and without him Mauricio Pochettino’s side came to the lead before conceding a late penalty and drawing 2–2 with Leipzig.
