The media reported that Liz was “disappointed” after Truss’s “comparison to Margaret Thatcher”.

Asked if she models herself on the former Tory prime minister, she disagreed with the allegation, saying: “I don’t accept it, I’m my own person”. At the age of nine, she played Thatcher in a mock election at school, the BBC reported.

He apparently got “zero votes – I didn’t even vote for myself”.

Truss has worked for three former prime ministers. David Cameron promoted her to Secretary of the Environment and served as Secretary of Justice under Theresa May. He was eventually made foreign secretary by Boris Johnson in 2021.

Truss will become Britain’s third female prime minister. All female prime ministers so far have been Conservative.

Truss is 47 years old, married and has two daughters. After university she worked as an accountant for Shell, and Cable & Wireless, and in 2000 married fellow accountant Hugh O’Leary. The family lives in Thetford, Norfolk, the BBC reported.

Before entering the leadership contest, many knew him from a speech at a Tory party convention in 2014, where he enthusiastically promoted British Cheese and Pork.

Liz Truss has been named as the new Conservative leader on Monday and will become UK PM on Tuesday, the Daily Mail reports.

The truce is a country in the grip of a subsistence crisis after seeing the former chancellor’s challenge with the support of 81,326 party members compared to Sunak’s 60,399.

As the Daily Mail reports, 57 percent to 43 percent of the results – somewhat higher than expected – were announced by Sir Graham Brady, chairman of the 1922 committee, at a glittering ceremony at the QE2 Center in Westminster.

Truss said it was an honor to be the new leader of the ‘largest political party on earth’. “I know our beliefs resonate with the British people,” she said.

“I campaigned as a conservative and I will rule as a conservative … I will present a bold plan to cut taxes and grow our economy.”

She added: “We will deliver a major victory for the Conservative Party in 2024.”

Truss also paid tribute to Boris Johnson, who will formally hand him power tomorrow, saying he had ‘Brexit, crushed Jeremy Corbyn, vaccinated, and stood up for Vladimir Putin’.

But the new premier faces one of the toughest in-tres in decades, with inflation fears rising as gas prices rise again and the pound rises further.

Speculation is growing that the truss will opt for a bold furlough-style move to freeze energy bills – possibly by lending money to companies to defray costs.

Bulk gas prices rose nearly 30 percent on Monday following Russia’s decision to shut down a major gas pipeline, the Daily Mail reported.
