Patna: After stepping down from the post of Congress state president, Madan Mohan Jha on Friday said that he has got the blessings of the high command and will continue to serve the party.
“Earlier also I had the blessings of the high command and even now I have got it. I will serve the party with all my heart and soul. As far as the post is concerned, it is not permanent, rather it comes and goes,” Jha told TOI.
When asked when he had offered to resign, he replied, “About six months ago, I had said that I want to step down and serve in whatever capacity the high command wants to serve. Once Then I expressed the same thing.”
Jha, who was in New Delhi for a few days this week, first met his state in-charge Bhakta Charan Das, the then party’s national general secretary (organisation), KC Vbugopal and Rahul Gandhi.
According to a new agency, Bihar in-charge Das has said that the process of forming a new committee has started. Sources said that after Jha’s resignation, there will be a change in the faces of the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee. “Till now, Jha will continue to serve till a new state president is appointed, or someone is given the charge of working president. However, this process should be expedited so that the party does not suffer due to lack of leadership,” said a senior leader.
Soon after the news of Jha’s resignation, the lobbying for the new president of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee has also intensified. State in-charge Das has shown interest in keeping Kutumba MLA Rajesh Ram on this post from the very beginning. However, there is a group which is against Ram’s nomination. Right now many names are coming up in the race, including Ranjit Ranjan, Tariq Anwar, Anand Shankar, Vijay Shankar Dubey, Mohammad Javed, Meera Kumar and Kanhaiya Kumar.
