The popular K-drama actor auditioned for the role of Hansu and his thirst for new characters and stories

K-The drama’s Prince Charming is downplaying his ‘good boy’ image with the role of Hansu in the much-awaited Apple TV+ series, pachinko

A fiercely ambitious and opportunistic figure with ties to the Mafia, the character Min-ho is not one to win fans over. But the actor says that instead of trying to break away from his image, he “thirst for new characters and new stories. So I was ready to play Hansu.”

The eight-episode series is based on the 2017 historical novel of the same name, written by Korean-American author Min Jin Lee. The sweeping saga, which follows a Korean family that emigrates to Japan and later the US, tackles themes such as poverty, racism and conservatism. It also stars Kim Min-ha, veteran actor Yoon Yuh-jung, Korean-American actor Jin Ha and Japanese-New Zealand actor Anna Sawai.
