Tightening the probe in a rape case against noted Malayalam producer-actor Vijay Babu, the Kerala Police on Thursday said “prima facie it is a proven case” and lookout notices against the accused who had allegedly left the country. has been issued.

Babu has been accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a female actor and disclosing the identity of the survivor through a Facebook Live session.

Kochi city police commissioner Nagaraju Chakilam said that the city police started investigation immediately after registering a rape case against the actor on April 22 based on the woman’s complaint and the processes including gathering of evidence were being completed.

“Lookout notice has been issued against him. Prima facie case is proved. There is an exploitation angle in this case,” the senior police officer told a news channel.

When asked about the procedures to bring Babu back home, he said there are procedures in place to bring the accused back home and it is part of the investigation.

“We will take steps, but gradually, not immediately. There is no need to take the matter to Interpol at the moment. If need be, we will do so,” the commissioner said.

Babu, who has been missing since the police launched an investigation, appeared on a Facebook Live session on Tuesday night and claimed to be innocent, saying he was the “real victim”.
