A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed before the Bombay High Court, seeking registration of an FIR against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray for holding a press conference and inciting people to play Hanuman Chalisa on loudspeakers Has been.

Mentioned in the PIL, Mr. Raj Thackeray held several public meetings where he allegedly made derogatory speeches against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, which could lead to protests across the state.

The petition has been filed by social activist Hemant Patil and urged the court to file an FIR under sedition and for disturbing the peace and causing public nuisance. Mr. Patil also wants the court to restrain Mr. Raj Thackeray from holding any press conference.

He has said that Hanuman Chalisa will be played if Mr. Raj Thackeray fails to shout for removal of all loudspeakers by May 4, leading to sections 153 (provocation with intent to cause riot), 116 (abetment to offence) against him. FIR was registered under and section 117 of the Indian Penal Code (abetment to offense committed by more than 10 persons).
