LPU, Ministry of External Affairs organizes a 4-week course on ‘IoT Technologies and Applications for Smart Cities’

Lovely Professional University (LPU) in collaboration with Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) under Ministry of External Affairs organized a four week special course on “IoT technologies and applications for smart cities”. As per the instructional strategy at LPU, the entire program was a workshop based on concept discussion and its implementation.

18 executives, managers, engineers and technical staff from smart city projects, regulators, policy makers, telecom operators, industry and academia from 10 countries participated. The training course was designed to enhance participants’ understanding of the IoT technologies required for smart cities. It also covered case studies on how IoT can be deployed in cities, agriculture, healthcare and industries. The course also provided a basic understanding of IoT as per working with microcontrollers and sensors.

The ITEC program is a bilateral program of assistance to the Government of India. It was felt necessary to establish a relationship of mutual concern and interdependence based on a sound economic foundation along with generally held ideals and aspirations.

Dr Aman Mittal, Vice-Chairman, LPU, Director, ITEC in the University informed that LPU trains thousands of foreign nationals every year in various long term and short term training programmes. Till now LPU has started total 10 offline/online ITEC programmes. Dr Mittal also expressed happiness over the positive outcome of the programme. He shared that all the participants learned their maximum. It is expected that all of them will use the same knowledge in the smart development of their respective country.

Under ITEC related programmes, 161 countries from Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America, Caribbean, Pacific and Small Island Countries are invited to share the experience of Indian development achieved over seven decades as an independent nation. is done. These programs have generated immense goodwill and genuine cooperation among the developing countries. The 10 participating countries this time are Tajikistan, Sudan, Kenya, Guatemala, Maldives, Niger, Sri Lanka, Nicaragua, Ethiopia and Nigeria.
