LPU student Jyoti Baliyan selected for Para World Archery Championship 2022

Jyoti Baliyan, a student of Lovely Professional University, has been selected for the Para World Archery Championship 2022, which is scheduled to be held in Dubai from February 19 to 27. Fighting all odds, Jyoti Baliyan, who hails from a middle-class farmer family from Uttar Pradesh is now going to represent India as one of the country’s consistent performers.

She is now aiming to win the top medal at the World Archery Para Championship for India. Jyoti, who was fighting a battle with polio, wanted to become a volleyball player since childhood.

To fulfill her dream, LPU is providing her 100 percent scholarship so that she can fulfill her aspirations of both sports and studies. LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal said, “It is a matter of pride for all of us that Jyoti, an LPU student and Tokyo Paralympic participant, has now once again been selected for a prestigious competition at the world level. Jyoti has been a super athlete. , and we wish him more laurels for the country, the university and himself.”

Currently taking coaching from mentor Pawandeep at LPU, Jyoti is hoping to excel in Dubai, says the university. Even before this, she was the only female Indian archer to be sent to Tokyo to participate in the Paralympics. Currently, he is the biggest medal prospect in the country. She has to compete in the Women’s Compound Individual Open and the Compound Mixed Team Open.

The Dubai 2022 World Archery Para Championships is scheduled to be held from February 19 to 27 at the ‘People of Determination’ ground at Dubai Club. This is the same venue where the famous Faiza Para Archery World Ranking Tournament has been taking place continuously over the years.
