Ludhiana: In a sad incident fire Incident, seven members of a family were burnt to death in a hut Tajpur Road Wednesday morning.
The seven members include husband and wife, their four daughters and a two-year-old son. Only one member of the family is alive as he was sleeping elsewhere.
According to the information, the fire started around 3 am when everyone Family members were sleeping.
The deceased have been identified as Suresh Shani (55), Rana Devi (50), Rakhi Kumari (15), Manisha Kumari (10), Chanda Kumari (8), Geeta Kumari (6) and Sunny (2). However, only Rajesh (17) is safe.
Deputy Fire Officer Atish Rai said, “The fire was doused by the fire brigade of Sunder Nagar station but by then all the members of the family had been burnt to death.”
How the fire started and why the family members did not try to come out to reach a safe place is not known as the hut is usually open from all sides, he said.
