The information was shared with us during an exclusive interview with Klaus Zelmer, board member of sales, marketing and after-sales at Volkswagen Passenger Cars, for the latest episode of Freewheeling with SVP. He spoke to Siddharth Vinayak Patankar, editor-in-chief of carandbike.

When asked about the company’s export plan and how it aims to manage production capacity for both domestic and export markets, Zelmer said, “Currently we are managing supply. As you know semiconductor supply.” The shortage keeps us very busy in terms of producing enough cars to meet the market demand globally. This puts a limit on our current reach, for example in the context of Pune, to invest more. To increase the volume of production and to see which countries, especially Latin America would be right to export. We haven’t made much headway in that aspect, but always checking those opportunities as well. It’s on our agenda.”
