Taking to Instagram Story, Madonna thanked her brother Ciccone for “blowing (her) mind” as a young girl.
“Thank you for blowing my mind as a young girl and introducing me to (jazz musicians) Charlie Parker (and) Miles Davis,” the 64-year-old “Vogue” singer wrote on her Instagram story on Monday, remembering her late siblings. Wrote with a group photo of. ,
She continued to champion other things taught by her brother, including the religions Buddhism and Taoism, and the authors Charles Bukowski, Richard Brautigan, and Jack Kerouac.
“You planted many important seeds,” Madonna concluded the tribute.
Ciccone died on 24 February. He was 66 years old.
The news of Ciccone’s death was shared by his relative Joe Henry on social media.
In his emotional post, Henry described Ciccone as a “complex character”. “My brother-in-law, Anthony Gerard Ciccone, passed away from this earthly plane last evening,” Henry wrote alongside a young photo of his brother-in-law. “I’ve known him since I was 15, so many years now in the spring of our life in Michigan. As brother Dave Henry (who took this photo) noted here, Anthony was a complex character And God knows: We tangled in the moments, as true brothers can.
Henry continued, “But I loved her, and understood her better than I was sometimes willing to let go. But the trouble fades; and the family remains – arms outstretched across the table. Farewell, Then, Brother Anthony. I’d like to think that the God your blessed mother (and mine) believed in is out there, waiting to receive you. At least for today, no one can tell me about this. Will not distract from sight.
Ciccone reportedly struggled with alcoholism and was homeless for several years. In 2013, he needed nine stitches on his forehead after resisting arrest in a public bathroom in Michigan, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
