The Shinde group, which claims the support of more than two-thirds of Shiv Sena MLAs, has announced that Prabhu has been replaced as party whip by Bharat Gogawale.

The Maharashtra Assembly Secretariat on Saturday issued ‘summons’ to 16 rebel Shiv Sena MLAs, including senior minister Eknath Shinde, seeking written replies by the evening of June 27, demanding their disqualification. Signed by Rajendra Bhagwat, Principal Secretary, Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan, the summons was sent to all 16 MLAs nominated by Shiv Sena chief whip Sunil Prabhu in a letter.
Prabhu had earlier asked the rebel MLAs of the Shinde faction, who were camping in Guwahati, to attend the party meeting here on Wednesday, but none of them turned up. The Shiv Sena then submitted two letters to the legislature secretariat, demanding the disqualification of 16 MLAs, including Shinde.
The summons issued by Bhagwat on Saturday said that Prabhu had submitted a letter to Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Narhari Jirwal seeking his disqualification under the Members of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (Disqualification on grounds of defection) Rules, 1986. In your defense of summons, you must submit your written response along with all necessary documents before 5.30 PM on 27th June (Monday). If the written reply to the summons is not submitted within a stipulated period, it shall be deemed that you have no right over it. The office will take necessary action based on the complaint filed against you by Prabhu, the letter said.
