Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde arrived in Delhi to discuss the Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation. The Chief Minister reached Maharashtra Sadan in Delhi late on Monday night. Shinde said that the state government was committed to provide them justice.
“I have come to Delhi to discuss about OBC reservation as Maharashtra government is committed to provide justice to OBCs. It is important from the point of view of the state. We have consulted lawyers on our preparation for OBC reservation case (in SC). Discussed together Shinde said while talking to the media.
Shinde was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on June 30 with the support of the BJP. He enjoys the support of 40 of the 55 Shiv Sena MLAs in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
Shiv Sena has demanded disqualification of some rebel MLAs and the matter is pending in the Supreme Court. The top court is scheduled to hear on July 20 petitions related to the recent events in Maharashtra that led to the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
During this, Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray On Monday, senior leader Ramdas Kadam and former MP Anandrao Adsul were sacked for indulging in “anti-party” activities. Kadam, a former Maharashtra minister, had sent a letter to Thackeray resigning as a “Shiv Sena leader” claiming he was constantly “insulted” while Thackeray was always busy while he was the chief minister. Adsul, a former Union minister who represented the Amravati Lok Sabha seat, had written a letter on 6 July resigning as party leader.
