Addressing a campaign rally for the upcoming Legislative Council elections, Shinde said on Saturday that the state education department was studying the old pension scheme.

Shinde also said that the state government would respond with its own work to the allegations leveled by the opposition regarding the signing of investment proposals at the recently held Davos summit. Employees get fixed pension under the old pension scheme. Under this, the employee is entitled to 50 per cent of the last pay drawn as pension. However, the pension amount is contributory under the National Pension System, which is in effect since 2004.

“The government is positive about the old pension scheme for teachers and government employees, unaided schools and 25 per cent reservation in English medium schools. Shinde said that the education department is studying the old pension scheme.

Speaking about the Davos meeting, he said that some foreign companies prefer to go into joint ventures instead of making direct investments.

“So many industrialists are from India at the Davos conference. But it will be foreign investment.
