The Maharashtra government has released an amount of ₹5 crore for setting up a music school named after legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, an official here said on June 24.

According to a government proposal released in this regard, the Thane Municipal Corporation will bear 25% of the cost and the state government will pitch with 75% for the project.

The official said that while releasing the funds, the state government has put several conditions and said that the district collector will oversee the entire project.
