Maharashtra reports steep fall in daily COVID tally; Today less than 2 thousand cases

Maharashtra on Monday showed a sharp drop in the daily COVID tally, reporting 1,966 new coronavirus positive cases, down over 1,500 from a day earlier. With the latest additions, the total number of infections in the state rose to 78,44,915 and the number of active cases to 36,447, the state health bulletin said. On Sunday, Maharashtra recorded 3,502 cases and 17 deaths.

Generally, Maharashtra records fewer COVID-19 cases on Monday due to less testing. Less than 1 lakh tests were conducted in the state in the last 24 hours. According to the report, the positivity rate is 2.17 percent.

12 people also died due to the viral infection in the state and with this the death toll from Kovid-19 increased to 1,43,416. The death rate of COVID-19 in Maharashtra now stands at 1.82 per cent.

The total number of recoveries in Maharashtra rose to 76,61,077 after 11,408 patients were discharged on Monday. The case recovery rate is 97.66%.

Mumbai COVID Tally

Mumbai recorded only 192 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This is the lowest daily count since December 13 last year.

The city also reported two Covid-19 related deaths. Official statements were recorded, 350 people have recovered from the novel coronavirus and have been discharged in the city.

Omicron Tally in the State

With the detection of eight new cases of the Omron variant—all from Mumbai—the number of such cases rose to 3,994. A total of 3,334 Omicron patients have been discharged so far after a negative RT PCR test report.
