Maharashtra sees slight increase in active cases again

Maharashtra’s active case tally rose slightly on Thursday with 3,595 new COVID-19 cases, while 3,240 had recovered. Active cases now stand at 49,342.

The cumulative fatalities rose to 1,38,322 due to 45 deaths. The case fatality rate remains stable at 2.12%.

The total cases now stand at 65,11,525, while the state’s cumulative recoveries stand at 63,20,310 with a recovery rate of 97.06%.

The State Surveillance Officer said, “Out of the total 5,65,29,882 samples tested so far, 65,11,525 (average case positivity has increased to 11.52%) and 1.5% in the last 24 hours. More than 68 lakh samples have been tested. Dr. Pradeep Awate said.

Pune reported nearly 900 new cases, taking its total to 11,33,113, while three deaths took the toll to 18,820. According to district officials, the active cases have come down to around 7,400.

Mumbai reported 446 fresh cases, taking its total to 7,36,728, while the active number rose to 5,589. The two deaths took the city’s fatality figure to 16,039.

Ahmednagar reported 618 new cases and seven deaths, taking its total cases to 3,21,940, of which 6,575 are active. The death toll in the district rose to 6,707.

Satara added 236 new cases and six deaths, taking the total number of cases to 2,44,686, of which 4,256 are active, while the number of fatalities touched 6,179.

Neighboring Sangli reported 229 new cases and one death. The total tally stands at 2,06,125 with the active cases climbing to 2,321, while its death toll has reached 5,539.

Only 60 new cases were reported in Kolhapur and two people died, taking its total cases to 2,05,718. Active cases came down to 1,007. The death toll is 5,828.
