Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Minister Rajendra Shingane said that this step has been taken following the concerns of the health department.

“Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope had last week expressed concern over the state government not getting accurate information about cases of covid in the state. First-hand authentic information is a concern because we do not know how many people have bought these self-testing kits and are left at home,” he told CNN News18.

Maharashtra FDA is now coming up with a plan to ensure that the COVID Self-Help Kits are sold only on prescription. “This is to ensure that we get the actual figures in the state,” he said.
