Maharashtra woman kidnapped, sold by social media friend in Rajasthan

Palghar:

A 23-year-old married woman from Maharashtra’s Palghar district has been freed after she was allegedly abducted for Rs 2 lakh to marry another man in Rajasthan. Police gave this information here on Friday.

One person has been arrested in the case, while police are on the lookout for four others, said an official of Arnala Sagri police station.

The officer said that one of the accused had befriended the woman on Instagram sometime back and promised her a job in the police department.

He allegedly took her to Rajasthan and got her married to another person for Rs 2 lakh.

After her family members lodged a missing complaint, the Palghar police traced her and rescued her on Tuesday.

The police officer said that one of the accused has been arrested while four others are absconding.
