I Read ThePrint opinion article »The woman behind the fake Mahatmas who created Ao Hume founded the Indian National Congress”, written by Vinita Dhondiyal Bhatnagar, edited by Neera Majumdar, published in October, and disappointed that your magazine, which declared in its editorial policy, stands for ethical journalism and strictly truth and fact-based reports should have been published. Article in question. It is full of factual errors, poorly researched, riddled with misconceptions about the Theosophical movement, and an insult to the honorable name of Madame H.P. Blavatsky, for whom the world with her message provided the incomparable benefit to humanity. There is a deep debt of gratitude for. Of Theosophy.

The Theosophical movement of the 19th–21st century came at its opportune time to accelerate the progressive intellectual development of the modern era, which showed a definite inclination towards materialism since the Renaissance as a reaction to centuries of religious fanaticism and repression. Had been. of free thought. It was aimed at high thought and noble ideals by bringing back the forgotten truth of timeless wisdom in the Western mind; and, at the same time, reviving the true spirit of archaic Eastern religious and philosophical traditions that had become obscure.

The “Mahatmas” that the article talks about so outrageously are among the fraternity of living ideals of human perfection, a product of universal evolution, working relentlessly throughout all ages, towards the higher destiny of man. Helping human progress. He has imparted as much knowledge as the people of the time could either imbibe through his messengers or manifested themselves according to the instructions of the cyclical and karmic law governing the higher progress of humanity.

Blavatsky and the Mahatma

Madame H.P. Blavatsky was a direct agent of the Mahatmas, sent by her to establish a society aimed at creating a center for the Universal Brotherhood of Humanity, promoting the comparative study of world religions and philosophies, and examining the unexplained laws of nature. Was. The latent psychic and spiritual abilities and powers in the human race. He has recorded much about the Eternal Wisdom-Religion for the modern world, including the full range of laws governing cosmic and human origin, evolution, and fate. It presented stimulating intellectual material as the basis for the achievement of the above three objectives.

Madam HP Blavatsky traveled all over the world and spent years in India. He and Colonel Olcott worked tirelessly to revive ancient Hindu and Buddhist philosophy in India and instilled a sense of pride and respect among the youth of India for the invaluable ancient heritage, which was fueled by the constant preaching of Christian missionaries who degraded Hinduism. were discouraged. hand, and the relentless tide of Western thought, which on the other hand had embodied the Indian mind. India is deeply indebted to Madam for her labor of love for the betterment and upliftment of the country.

The statement made in the article that the Mahatmas sought the formation of the Indian National Congress under the then Secretary of the Government, Alan O. Hume used is baseless. The founders of the Theosophical Movement never got involved in politics, their only aim and objective was the intellectual, moral and spiritual development of humanity. Hume who came in contact with the teachers distanced himself from them because his offer to teach the occult sciences to some white men was rejected by the Mahatmas. It was Hume who, inspired by the lofty ideals of the founders, involved himself in the freedom movement and founded the Indian National Congress.

The second statement that Madame Blavatsky colluded with her workers, Coulombs, and resorted to fraudulent means to imitate the image of her Himalayan teachers to satisfy Hume’s desire to see them, is unfounded. The author has cited a series of articles published in Madras Christian College Magazine The truth as evidence on the subject is that the Christian missionaries launched a relentless propaganda campaign against the Theosophical movement and resorted to dubious means to thwart the attempt to arouse interest among Hindus about their ancient heritage, which was inspiring. Best was done by ruining his reputation. of the great revival movement and thus discrediting the latter. For a factual historical version of the event, readers are referred to Chapter VI, p. 83-87,” are invited to read.Theosophical Movement 1875-1950, “Cunningham Press, Los Angeles, CA, 1951 ed.

Another statement made by the author of the article, which is a repetition of the unjust and reprehensible attack by the Society of Psychical Research (SPR) based on Richard Hodgson’s unilaterally flawed investigation report, relied upon by Madame Blavatsky. Fraud to demonstrate occult powers and deceive people by installing secret mechanical devices in his chamber at the Adyar headquarters. The SPR’s independent investigation into the allegations demonstrated a biased and flawed approach to Hodgson’s investigation. For the true facts of the case, the reader is referred to Chapter VII of the above reference. In addition, the SPR acknowledged the erroneous grounds of Hodgson’s report when one of its officials, Vernon Harrison, published it in the SPR’s journal in 1985, pointing to the committee’s biased report and acquitting Madame Blavatsky of false charges. Gave. In addition, Harrison mentioned in his report that “there are serious flaws in Hodgson’s methods, observations, reasoning and conclusions,” and that the report was “false and unreliable”, accusing Hodgson of selection bias, among other errors.

There is no religion greater than truth

My article on Madame Blavatsky derives from my search for the etymological origin of the word “Mahatma” in reference to Mahatma Gandhi. I balked at the existence of Theosophical Mahatmas. I recognized his association with a woman I have long admired—Madame Blavatsky. In my article, I wrote of her as the most traveled and possibly most learned woman of my century. I wrote about the power of the concept of Mahatma and how it influenced the later history of India. It was never intended to insult the honorable name of Madame Blavatsky. On the contrary, he had to persuade.

In fact, in response to the constant criticism of Blavatsky and the Mahatmas that I encountered during my research I offered an alternative explanation. Isis Very Much Unveiled, Being the Story of the Great Mahatma Hoax “No Mahatma, No Members!” by Edmund Garrett There is a chapter titled, which opens with a quote from Annie Besant: “The Theosophical Society is an absurdity, and it is of no use to maintain it if there are no Mahatmas”. The Hodgson Report is quoted as saying that “it was declared that the codenamed Humi Lal Singh and Mahatma Morya were the same person, and that person was Madame Blavatsky”. When Hodgson came to India as part of the Psychical Research Society’s investigation, he declared that whatever prejudices he might have “was clearly in favor of esotericism and Madame Blavatsky.” However, Coulomb’s case had just broken out, and his investigation turned against him. Blavatsky left India soon after and the Mahatmas wrote no more letters to him. (Upon his death, Theosophist William Q Judge produced the Mahatma Letters to substantiate his claim to lead the esoteric section of the Theosophical Society. Olcott eventually declared these letters to be fraudulent.)

of arthur lily Code Humi unveiled It’s a lot more flippant than I can expect it to be. He points to discrepancies in the various stories about the origin of the Koota Humi in Punjab, Kutch or Kashmir, and states that in the “Saint James Gazette, a review of “Esoteric Buddhism”, it was indicated that the “Koota Humi” The word was originally intended to be jocular, and was, in fact, composed of syllables from the names of two members of the Theosophical Society at Bombay. The allusion was, perhaps, to Mr. Hume and Colonel Olcott.”

of john murdoch theosophic craze– its history; The great Mahatma deceived; How Mrs. Besant was fooled and deposed; Its attempt to revive the exploded superstitions of the Middle AgesFrom page 17 to page 21 gives a detailed account of his fraud. One of these includes AOHume. At a party at her home in Shimla, Madame Blavatsky asked his wife if there was anything she particularly wanted. Mrs Hume referred to an old family brooch that had been lost. Madame Blavatsky claimed by the force of her occult powers that the brooch had fallen into a flower bed in the garden. Found there.

Murdoch explains “Mrs. Hume gave the brooch to his daughter, who gave it to a young gentleman whom she hoped to marry. This gentleman lived for some time in the same house with Madame Blavatsky in Bombay. Money was needed, she sold the brooch; Madame Blavatsky got it, took it with her to Shimla, and hid it in the flowerbed where it was found.”

Blavatsky himself wrote in a letter to Frantz Hartmann in 1886: “[W]Here you speak of an “army” of fraudsters-And Olcott’s “imaginary” mahatma—you are absolutely and sadly correct.

After leaving the Mahatmas behind, Madame Blavatsky entered the most glorious and productive phase of her intellectual life. I think Madame Blavatsky would have approved of me.
