Mahindra Scorpio-N Design Detailed in New Video with Pratap Bose

Mahindra’s Chief Design Officer talks about some of the features of the new Scorpio N as well as some of its features.

Ahead of the launch of the new Scorpio-N later today, Mahindra has taken another closer look at its upcoming SUV in a video with Design Head Pratap Bose explaining the SUV’s design. The new Scorpio-N retains the upright and boxy design that has been a staple of all previous generations, incorporating several bold styling elements so that it appears both as strong and modern as the all-new model. Bose said the new Scorpio-N takes the design, interior and technology “to an exponential level” before going into detail on some of the SUV’s design and board features.

Bose says the new Scorpio-N takes the muscle factor to “an entirely new level”, with wheel-arches inspired by “a swimmer’s shoulder”. Other design elements brought out by the video include dual-barrel headlamps, bonnet, LED DRL elements and prominent grille along with C-shaped chrome detailing around the rear quarter window. Bose referred to the C-shaped design elements as a “sting-like” design. Focusing on the rear, Bose said that the stacked tail-lamps – a signature of the Scorpio were retained from the previous generations. Another thing that has come to the fore is the dynamic turn signals inside the headlamps.

On the interiors, Bose talks about the new dual-tone coffee-brown and black leatherette upholstery. He added that contour seats would include occupants, while the thigh support was also “terrible”. As with the previous description, the video gives us a brief look at the AdrenoX infotainment system. Bose also confirmed that the new Scorpio-N will get Alexa Home to Vehicle integration with the option to start the engine remotely. From the already revealed details we know that the Scorpio-N will pack in notable features which include 3D Sony sound system first seen on the XUV700, dual zone climate control, wireless phone charging and more.

Engine details are still unconfirmed, though the SUV is expected to be offered with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. The units are likely to be in lower condition as compared to the XUV700, with both manual and automatic gearbox options expected. Both the engine options are also expected to get four-wheel drive, with the system being called “4Xplore”, going by the vehicle badging.
