Spy photos of the Mahindra XUV700 Javelin Edition, which will be presented to Olympic gold medalists, Neeraj Chopra (2020 Olympics) and Sumit Antill (2020 Paralympics), have been leaked online, giving us a glimpse of the new special edition SUV.

New spy pictures of the Mahindra XUV700 Javelin Edition have surfaced online, and this time we get to see both the special edition models. Earlier in September, Mahindra Group Chairman, Anand Mahindra had announced that the company would introduce a special edition Mahindra XUV700 SUVs to Neeraj Chopra and Sumit Antil, for their historic victories at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics respectively. Both the athletes won gold medals for India in the javelin throw category of athletics. Now, the XUV700 Javelin Edition model, which will be presented to the two athletes, has been spotted together ahead of the official presentation.

Both the SUVs come with exclusive gold motifs, showing Neeraj Chopra and Sumit Antil the gold medal winning record

as seen in previous spy photosAll chrome elements on the exterior of the XUV700 have been replaced with gold inserts, including the new Mahindra logo. In addition to this, both the SUVs will be seen with a special gold badge which signifies the victories of the two athletes at the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics. A javelin thrower in the figure of the XUV700 presented to Neeraj Chopra and the number ‘87.58’ (metres) reflect his gold medal winning record. Similarly, the SUV offered to Sumit Antill reflects his gold medal winning record of ‘68.55’ (metres). While we do not get to see the cabin of the SUV in these pictures, based on the previous spy pictures, we do know that the two aforementioned motifs will be seen inside the cabin as well, on the dashboard, embroidered in gold.

Now, both the SUVs seem to be based on the top-spec AX7 variant of the SUV, however, the engine and transmission details are unknown. This means that the SUV will come with a host of smart features like LED headlights with LED DRLs, LED taillamps, 18-inch alloy wheels and roof rails. On the inside, the SUV will get a touchscreen infotainment system with Mahindra’s new AdrenoX connected car technology and a fully digital instrument cluster (both 10.25-inch units). The system also supports Alexa, and comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and other features like – 12-speaker 3D surround sound system from Sony, 6-way power-adjustable seats with memory and panoramic sunroof, 360 -degree camera, and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistant System).

The Mahindra XUV700 is the new flagship SUV in the domestic automaker’s line-up, and the company recently announced full pricing for the new SUV. Prices of XUV700 Starting from ₹12.49 Lakh and going up to ₹22.89 Lakh (Ex-showroom, India). The SUV comes with two engine options – a 2.0-litre GDI turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Both come with the option of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter unit. Anand Mahindra had also announced that Para shooter Avani Lekhara, who won a gold medal in the Women’s 10m AR Standing SH1 final at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, will get a specially designed SUV for people with disabilities. First of its kind from Mahindra.
