‘Main Baat Guddu Muslim…’: Moments before Atiq Ahmed was shot dead

The police have arrested the three attackers and identified them as Sunny, Lavlesh and Arun. Eyewitnesses said that soon after the gangsters were shot, they were seen raising slogans of Jai Shri Ram, as reported by HT.

As the assailant shot dead the two miscreants, the police overpowered the assailants and the bodies of Ateeq Ahmad and Ashraf Ahmad were taken away from the scene amid tension.

The shootout attack took place less than two days after Ahmed’s son Asad and his accomplice were killed in a police encounter in Jhansi on April 13. The last rites were performed by the police on Saturday. While at that time Atiq Ahmed and his brother were being interrogated by UP police at Dhumanganj police station. Asad Ahmed was the main accused in the Umesh Pal murder case. Whereas, Atiq Ahmed was a former Samajwadi Party MP.
