Makar Sankranti 2022: Makar Sankranti is celebrated across the country on 14 January. It marks the arrival of spring and marks the first Hindu harvest festival in the country. People worship the Sun God on this day and enjoy flying kites. Apart from this, many traditional delicacies are savored on this day. Makar Sankranti is celebrated differently in Karnataka. Traditionally, people get rid of their old unwanted clothes and things and burn them. They decorate their entrance with rangoli and flowers and offer grains to the deity.
