Make Thane roads safe in rain: Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde instructs agencies Thane News – Times of India

Thane: Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde On Wednesday, all municipal corporations, agencies like MSRDC, MMRDA, which have road construction work going on in Thane area, were directed to leave no stone unturned in repairing all the damaged roads in their respective jurisdictions.
This stern directive comes a day after Thane reported the first pothole-death of monsoon in the metropolitan area, when a biker from Mumbra allegedly rammed a water-filled pothole at Kazupada on Ghodbunder Road, skidded and An oncoming bus ran away.

Shinde called upon the district to review all disaster prevention and rescue teams and directed senior officers of all agencies to take immediate corrective steps and ensure that no more deaths occurred due to damaged roads in their respective areas.

Shinde said, “The damaged parts can be filled using cold mix technique so that the motorists can also get immediate relief. Senior officials of all agencies to visit the affected sites and monitor the repair works to ensure quality work. instructed to do so.”

Shinde directed the Thane district administration and the concerned local bodies to remain vigilant during monsoon to ensure immediate relief to the rain-affected people, especially those living in the flood-affected areas. “We need to ensure restoration of services in other areas like power supply in the flood-affected areas. A nodal officer should also be made to ensure coordination between agencies and civic agencies during water release from dams, disruption of railways and other important services.

The Chief Minister also directed Thane revenue teams to ensure that farmers who have suffered crop loss due to heavy rains are immediately compensated.
Additional Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik said, “The focus should be on shifting people to safer places during floods. The district should also stock enough medicines needed to deal with monsoon diseases. All equipment for rescue and rehabilitation should reach the villages. We have deployed two NDRF teams with 76 boats in Thane to deal with any emergency.
