Shot in rural Thodupuzha, the film follows what happens in Kuttichan’s family, including his daughter-in-law, bed-ridden wife and grandson, over the course of one night. Dhyan Srinivasan plays a pivotal role in the film, which is a show of Indrans since its inception. As a one-eyed Kuttyachana, a farmer, Indran appears in a role full of danger unlike any earlier. The action takes place between three characters essayed by Indra, Durga, Krishna and Dhyan. “The film is about the complex relationships that three characters share. A small crew and cast made sense and the story was a perfect fit,” says Ratheesh, who wrote the script. She was expected to direct actor Satyan’s biopic with actor Jayasuriya, which has been postponed temporarily. Pre-production for the project was going on when COVID-19 struck.

The platform on which the film will be shown will not have any role during the filming. He didn’t know whether it would be OTT or theatrical release. That decision was taken by producer Gokulam Gopalan. We didn’t know what the situation would be till the film was ready.”

The budding director, a former broadcast journalist, says, “As a journalist, I didn’t play much in the directing part. However, my experience composing shots and deciding camera angles as a television journalist came in handy.” He was the winner of the first season of Amrita TV’s reality show, ‘Citizen Journalist’.

Gokulam Gopalan has announced the Hindi remake of the film, which Ratheesh is set to direct. “Discussions are on, we are in the process of finalizing the details,” he says.
