Malayalam producer-actor Vijay Babu has been accused of sexually assaulting a female actor

Renowned Malayalam producer-actor Vijay Babu has been accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a female actor and disclosing the identity of the survivor through a Facebook Live session.
Vijay Babu, who is reportedly missing as the police had accused him of rape following the woman’s complaint, appeared in a Facebook Live session and pleaded innocent, saying he was the “real victim”.
As the producer, who is also the founder of the production company Friday Film House, revealed the name and identity of the survivor, which is a crime, another case was also registered against him.
A senior police officer told news agency PTI, “A case of rape was registered against him earlier. He also filed another case disclosing the identity of the victim. It seems that he is out of the station and now is absconding.”
The woman, who appeared in films produced by Vijay Babu’s production house, filed a police complaint on April 22 and went on to elaborate through a Facebook post about the physical assault and sexual abuse she allegedly committed against the producer-actor. In her Facebook post, the actress alleged, “He treated me like my savior for my personal and professional problems but sexually abused me under the guise.”
She further alleged that her modus operandi was trapping her in the role of “savior cum friend cum lover” and then drugging and sexually abusing her several times in the last one and a half months.
Apart from rape and physical assault, he allegedly forced her to consume alcohol and a ‘happy pill’, a drug.
She expressed fear over discussing about the assault and exploitation of others because of her dominance in the film industry.
The woman alleged, “I came to know that there are many other women who have been implicated in this trap by Vijay Babu. They have recorded a nude video of me and have threatened me with the consequences and my life is also in danger.”
However, in a Facebook Live on Tuesday, Vijay Babu denied the allegations but admitted that he has known the female actor for the past five years.
Apart from denying the allegations, the producer also said that he will file a defamation suit against the complainant for maligning his image.
He mentioned the victim’s name several times during the Facebook Live session, saying that he was doing so intentionally as she was not the “victim” and that he was the “real victim” in the case.
