Mamta Banerjee files nomination for Bhawanipur assembly by-election

Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee On Friday, he filed his nomination for the by-election to Bhawanipur assembly seat. The TMC chief will be pitted against BJP’s Priyanka Tibrewal and Left Front’s Shreejib Biswas.

As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the by-election to Bhabnipur assembly constituency in West Bengal will be held on 30 September.

The counting of votes will take place on October 3.

The Bhabanipur assembly seat was vacated by West Bengal Agriculture Minister Shobhandev Chattopadhyay in May, making way for CM Banerjee to contest from the Bhawanipur seat.

The West Bengal CM, who lost the election in Nandigram, has to win this by-election to retain the chief minister’s post.

CM Banerjee, while addressing a convention of TMC workers in Chetla on Wednesday, confirmed that she will file her nomination for the Bhawanipur assembly by-election on September 10.

CM Banerjee hails from Bhabnipur and won the seat twice in 2011 and 2016.

The TMC supremo has once again expressed displeasure over the timing and phases of the assembly elections.

Speaking on this, he said, “God only knows how elections were held in 2021. The Center lied, yet could not defeat me. There was a conspiracy behind the attack on me in Nandigram. Thousands of goons from outside were trying to mislead Bengal. had come.” “

The Election Commission’s announcement amidst the ongoing political tension between the BJP and TMC in Bengal has forced both the main parties to start the debate for the bypolls again.

Meanwhile, the model code of conduct is in force in those districts in which elections are to be held in whole or in any part of the assembly constituency.
