Mamta said on the target of the arrest of the minister in the SSC scam, the media will not accept the trial

At a time when his Trinamool Congress is facing public notoriety over the arrest of minister Partha Chatterjee and his colleague and party general secretary Arpita Mukherjee in a cash-for-job scam, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Expressed confidence that BJP will still lose the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. “I don’t know how, but I can say that they will not come to power… The government at the Center is more dangerous than the British Raj,” she said on Wednesday on the 25th anniversary of the Titagarh Wagon Factory event.

After the arrest of Commerce and Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee in connection with the alleged school recruitment scam, Mamata assured industrialists that Bengal means business and all will develop together.

He raised questions on the alleged Staff Selection Commission (SSC) scam. She reiterated that if her ministers are involved in the scam, she should be punished but she would not accept any media trial. “When you run a big organization, mistakes can happen. If someone has committed a mistake, and it has been proved by law, he should be punished. But I am against any malicious media campaign. The media is playing the role of a kangaroo (court). A senior judge has also said so recently.

Partha Chatterjee and his aide Arpita Mukherjee – both arrested last week in connection with the teacher recruitment scam – have been sent to ED custody till August 3.

The Enforcement Directorate in its plea said that Chatterjee had taken admission in the Bengal government-run SSKM Hospital on the pretext of illness and the agency could not interrogate him during the two-day remand granted by a chief metropolitan magistrate on Saturday.

In an apparent reference to the suspension of 19 opposition members from the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, he said, “These days, if you oppose something, you get suspended.” Of the suspended MPs, seven are from TMC and six from DMK.
