Man booked on suspicion of heroin smuggling at Delhi airport

The authorities had booked a Ugandan man at the Delhi airport on suspicion of smuggling heroin.

Customs officials at IGI Airport, New Delhi have registered a case against a Ugandan man on suspicion of smuggling heroin. He is accused of smuggling a white-colored substance, primarily heroin, who tested positive.

The man reached New Delhi from Entebbe in Uganda on March 31. The test result for the substance came on April 7.

The substance was found after medical examination of the person. Investigation revealed that some material is hidden inside the man’s body.

A medical procedure on man yielded 70 capsules in a quantity of 815 grams of a white colored substance. The substance has primarily tested positive for heroin, which has an international market value of around Rs. 5.705 crores.

The man was arrested for violating the NDPS Act, 1985. His action is punishable for illegal import of drugs (Section 23), criminal conspiracy (Section 29) and transportation of drugs (Section 21). He was arrested on April 7.
