A 37-year-old man who works more than 16-17 hours a day in a corporate job recently approached a doctor on Twitter as he was worried about his blood pressure. The man, who goes by the name Harshal on the micro-blogging site, sought health advice from Dr Sudhir Kumar, a neurologist at Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad.

“Hi Doctor, I am 37 years old, in corporate job, current working hours are more than 16-17 hours since last 6 months, giving non stop coverage for all global regions, I recently checked BP , and it is 150 /90 and 84 minutes. Please advise next steps,” Mr Harshal tweeted.

In response to this, Dr Kumar recommended the Twitter user to “reduce working hours by 50 per cent”. He also jokingly said to ensure that an unemployed person, whose job Mr. Harshal was doing besides him, gets a job.

The doctor said, “Reduce the working hours by 50 percent, and ensure that an unemployed person gets a job (whose job you are doing in addition to your own).

In the next tweet Mr. Harshal thanked the doctor for the advice. He also revealed that he eventually had to quit his job as he was asked to work even on weekends.

“Thanks for the suggestion, I have now quit because it was getting too toxic at the top. I quit at my best because I told my boss I couldn’t be available on the weekend and then he said, he Leave immediately thereafter (sic), to find a replacement,” he wrote.
