Man dies during rave party at popular Chennai mall, case against 4: Police

A 22-year-old employee of an information technology firm allegedly died due to excessive consumption of alcohol during an illegal rave party at a popular mall in Chennai last night. The police gave this information on Sunday.

After coming to know about the operation of ‘The Great Indian Gathering’ event, the police raided the bar which was operating on the third floor of the mall allegedly without a mandatory license and it was ‘sealed’.

Taking cognizance of the incident, Greater Chennai Police Commissioner Shankar Jiwal has warned of strict action against those running such illegal parties in the city.

According to a senior police officer, the victim, who was partying with his friends at the mall on Saturday night, died of alcohol overdose.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that he died of heavy drinking,” the official told PTI. He hails from Madipakkam in the city and handed over the body to his family after conducting post-mortem at Royapettah Government General Hospital. Went.”

Police are also probing whether the participants were served narcotics along with liquor.

The people partying at the venue were asked by the police to leave the venue. Police said it was also learned that the bar located on the third floor of the mall was functioning without a mandatory license and was later sealed.

In this regard, 844 liquor bottles were seized and a case was registered against four persons.

The investigation revealed that the party was conducted by inviting people to register themselves through the mobile application to participate in the event, the release said.
