Man surprises sister with father’s living wax statue on wedding day

Bride Sai Vaishnavi became emotional after seeing the statue of her father who died last year.

A bride in Hyderabad was overwhelmed with emotions on her wedding day after seeing a wax wax statue of her father, who died last year. The statue was a surprise gift from the bride’s brother Phani Kumar, who wanted his father Avula Subramaniam to be present at the wedding.

A video posted by Mr Kumar on YouTube shows the moment the bride Sai Vaishnavi and her mother Jayashree Subramaniam saw Sri Subramaniam’s wax statue. Both the women were initially shocked, but later burst into tears.

Ms Vaishnavi was seen hugging and kissing her father’s idol. The video further shows that other relatives present at the venue of the June 9 wedding also embraced it and got emotional.

This idol became the center of attraction in the marriage. It was a perfect replica of Sri Subramaniam and was involved in almost all the works. The whole family also clicked a photo with it.

Mr Kumar told NDTV.com that the statue was made in Karnataka and took over a year to complete. He further said that both his parents worked in Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and retired in 2020.

Mr Subramaniam contracted coronavirus last year (during the second wave), due to which his oxygen level dropped and he was taken to hospital, Mr Kumar said.

“I stayed with him for three days in the hospital, where I could not meet him or talk to him as he was on a ventilator,” Mr Kumar said.

The loss was initially enormous, but Mr. Kumar and his family showed strength. But he had one wish – to bring his father to the sister’s wedding and this resulted in an elaborate plan to design the statue and present it as a surprise gift on the wedding day.
