Man thrashed 3 tribal children for entering paddy field in Kerala: Police

Wayanad (Kerala):

Three minor children of a tribal community were allegedly thrashed by a man for entering a paddy field in Kerala’s hilly district of Wayanad. The police gave this information on Tuesday.

He said the incident took place on August 15 under Kenichira police station area near Sultan Bathery when a six-year-old and a seven-year-old boy were playing in a paddy field in their neighbourhood.

Police said the children were allegedly thrashed by their neighbor Radhakrishnan, who is in his 40s, used sticks and accused him of destroying the bundle of his paddy field.

The incident came to light when the children sought treatment at the nearest medical centre. Police said that his condition is not serious.

After receiving information from the hospital authorities, the police registered a case on the basis of the statement of the mother of a child and started investigation.

Police said that the accused fled soon after the incident.

He has been booked under SC/ST Atrocities Act and IPC section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means).

A police team led by Manantavadi Deputy Superintendent AS Chandran is probing the matter, he said.
