Mangalore man accidentally shoots son during argument with driver

Mangalore:

A 16-year-old was seriously injured after his father, who runs a transport company, allegedly pointed a pistol at his office in Mangalore on Tuesday.

Rajesh Prabhu opened fire during a heated argument between his son and a driver and a cleaner, who were demanding dues, police said.

Prabhu has been arrested by Mangalore Police after preliminary investigation.

Prabhu allegedly owed the driver and cleaner Rs 4,000 for dropping a consignment last week.

The driver and cleaner reached Prabhu’s office today demanding arrears.

Prabhu’s wife called their 16-year-old son to the office, where the teenager allegedly slapped the driver and the cleaner. After a heated argument between the employees and his son, Prabhu opened fire. Police said two personnel managed to escape the bullets, but one of them hit Sudheendra.

The boy has been admitted to a private hospital.

Mangalore Police Commissioner Shashi Kumar said that an FIR has been registered at South police station.
