A doctor has been duped of ₹1.65 lakh after asking him to download the Remote Desk application and then recharge his MyJio app.

In a complaint, B Ashwin Baliga, a resident of B Mooda village in Bantwal taluk, has said that he received a call on April 29 informing him that his MyJio app had been blocked. They were asked to download the remote desk application Quick Easy App and during the conversation the accused got the configuration of the doctor’s mobile phone from which he [accused] Saw the screen of the doctor’s mobile phone.

Soon after, the doctor accessed his MyJio app and recharged it with ₹10 through his HDFC Bank debit card details. However, he received three messages saying ₹10,000 each has been debited and then, another three messages saying his HDFC Bank account has been debited ₹45,000 each.

The doctor filed the complaint on May 3. The Dakshina Kannada Cyber ​​Economic and Narcotic Crime Police Station registered it for offenses punishable under Section 66 (c) and (d) of the Information Technology Act and Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code. Police said that the search is on for the accused.
