Manipur mood ahead of election results: BJP confident; Congress is keeping its flock together

In the 2017 elections in Manipur, the Congress won 28 seats and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 21 seats. The BJP still managed to put together an alliance and form the government in Manipur. Taking no chances in the 2022 elections, the Congress pushed its candidates in temples and mosques to take a pledge that they would not leave the party.

With the results coming on Thursday, the leaders of all the parties are now gearing up.

Though most exit polls have shown that the BJP will form the government comfortably, the Congress is leaving no stone unturned to keep its flock together.

On March 8, Congress held a special meeting with all the candidates. From AICC General Secretary Mukul Wasnik to TS Sing Deo to Vincent Pala and the state in-charge sat with all the candidates.

Political analysts say the match is high after the election results in Manipur.

BJP The camp is upbeat and reassuring. Speaking to News18, BJP state president Sharda Devi said, “We are preparing for celebrations, as we will cross the magic figure of 40. All our central leaders are also confident.”

Its “Dark Horse” WarThe National People’s Party (NPP) also showed high energy. “We are expecting good results,” NPP chief and Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma told News18.

For the Congress, it is a ‘do or die’ battle, as the outcome will affect elections in Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura.

Wasnik believes that the verdict will be in favor of the Congress. He said the mandate of the people should not be rigged, as was done in Manipur five years ago.
