Markets on the rise: Indices hit new peaks; Record 5th consecutive profit – Times of India

Mumbai: Equity Gauge Sensex And the Nifty climbed to new record highs on Wednesday, extending its winning streak for the fifth consecutive session, as investors continued to buy auto, power and infra stocks.
After crossing a lifetime high of 60,836.63 during the session, the 30-share Sensex settled 452.74 points or 0.75 per cent higher at 60,737.05 – its all-time high.
Similarly, the Nifty rose 169.80 points or 0.94 per cent to reach a new closing peak of 18,161.75. It also touched an intra-day record of 18,197.80.
PowerGrid, ITC, L&T, Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel and Titan were among the top gainers in the Sensex pack, with M&M rising over 5 per cent.
On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki, HUL, Nestle India, Axis Bank and SBI were among the laggards.
Sectorally, the BSE Auto, Utilities, Momentum, Industrial and Power indices rose up to 3.46 per cent, while the realty index closed in the red.
Broad midcap and smallcap indices rose up to 1.56 per cent.
S Ranganathan, Head of Research, LKP Securities said, “Auto stocks led by Tata Motors took Nifty to new high of 18200 with good support from infra and metal stocks on launch of master plan of infrastructure development and multi-modal connectivity. delivered.” said.
He said that as the market awaits earnings from big IT names today, Tata group shares remained in the limelight despite profit-booking in afternoon trade.
Continuing improvement in financials and Reliance Industries supported the broader indices. Tata Group’s shares in particular focused Tata Motors when the company announced a $1 billion investment from TPG in the electric vehicle division, valuing the EV business at $9.1 billion.
Elsewhere in Asia, shares in Shanghai and Seoul ended higher, while Tokyo was in the red.
Stock exchanges in Europe were also trading on a positive note in mid-session deals.
Meanwhile, international oil benchmark Brent crude fell 0.54 per cent to $82.97 a barrel.
On the forex market front, the rupee closed 15 paise higher at 75.37 against the US dollar.
