Maruti Suzuki reports a decline of 2% in production in April 2022; 4% decline in production compared to March 2022

In April 2022, Maruti Suzuki manufactured 157,392 units in India as against 159,955 vehicles produced during the same month in 2021. Further, as compared to 163,392 units produced in March 2022, it registered a decline of around 4 per cent in MoM production.

The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India recently saw a year-on-year decline of around 2 per cent in vehicle production in April 2022. Last month, the carmaker manufactured 157,392 units in India as against 159,955 vehicles produced in April 2021. At the same time, as compared to 163,392 units produced in March 2022, Maruti Suzuki India reported a month-on-month decline of nearly 4 per cent in production in April 2022. The above numbers also include vehicles produced by Suzuki Motor Gujarat Pvt Ltd. and vehicles manufactured for sale to other manufacturers (Toyota).

In a regulatory filing on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Maruti Suzuki India said, “Shortage of electronic components had a marginal impact on the production of vehicles during the month. The company took all possible measures to mitigate the impact. As the supply position of electronic components remains unpredictable, it may have some impact.” Production volume in FY 2022-23 as well.”

Maruti Suzuki’s entry and subcompact segment cars produced 99,633 units

The cumulative production of Maruti Suzuki’s entry and subcompact segment cars such as Alto, S-Presso, WagonR, Celerio, Swift, Ignis, Baleno (Glanza) and DZire stood at 99,633 units last month. Compared to 112,488 vehicles produced in April 2021, the company saw a year-on-year decline of 11 per cent. In April 2022, Maruti Suzuki also saw a 20 per cent drop in production of the Ciaz compact sedan at 1,756 units. The company had produced 2,194 units of the Ciaz sedan in the same month last year.

However, the company saw a massive 30 per cent growth in utility vehicle production, which includes models like Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza (urban cruiser), XL6 and Jimny (export only). The cumulative production of these models stood at 40,399 units as against 31,059 vehicles produced in April 2021. Last month, the company also sold 11,166 units of the Eeco van, which is almost 6 per cent less than the 11,844 units produced during the same month. in 2021.

In April 2022, Maruti Suzuki India also sold 4,438 units of the Super Carry Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV). Compared to 2,370 units produced in April 2021, the company saw a massive decline of 87 per cent on a year-on-year basis.
