The studio shared the news of Shakman’s departure in a statement on Friday.

“Matt Schakman is an incredibly talented filmmaker, and we’re sorry that the timing didn’t align for him to direct our upcoming ‘Star Trek’ film. Fantastic Four Phase 6 of Marvel’s storytelling will begin. It will release in theaters on November 8, 2024. Watts was announced as the director of Fantastic Four During the Disney Investor Day presentation in December 2020.

Marvel Studios has acquired the cinematic rights to the superhero team, which has previously been remade for the big screen three times, when it took control of 20th Century Fox.
