Matthew Hayden became the mentor of Pakistan for the T20 World Cup, said – great win over India

Pakistan mentor Matthew Hayden said the Babar Azam-led team’s victory over India in the Super Four match of the Asia Cup was “fantastic”.

The innings of Mohammad Rizwan (71 off 51) and Mohammad Nawaz (42 off 20) helped Pakistan beat India by five wickets. A week after the win, India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in their opening match of the continental tournament.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday appointed former Australia cricketer Hayden as the team’s mentor for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, starting October.

“I have seen how Pakistan is performing in the ACC T20 Asia Cup and Sunday’s win over India was fantastic,” Hayden said in a PCB statement after being named as Pakistan’s mentor.

“I think this Pakistan side has got what it takes to excel in Australia and the conditions will really suit them, both from the point of view of batting and bowling. This team has all its bases and I am sure this world Will illuminate the Cup like it did in UAE last year.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to share all my experience and knowledge about all conditions in Australia and can’t wait to be back in the Pakistan dressing room.”

Hayden will return to the Pakistan dressing room after working with the team during the T20 World Cup 2021. He helped Babar’s team reach the semi-finals by beating India, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia in league matches.

The former Australia cricketer will join Pakistan in Brisbane on October 15, the day the team arrives from Christchurch after competing in a T20I series that includes Bangladesh and hosts New Zealand.

“He is a proven performer with his credentials that is recognized and recognized around the world. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge about the conditions in Australia and I am sure that his participation will help us in the World Cup and future tours.
