McDonald’s India launches first all-female restaurant near Statue of Unity

To support women empowerment, McDonald’s India on June 30 announced the launch of its first all-women drive-thru restaurant in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat.

The new restaurant, operated by Westlife Development and a franchise partner of McDonald’s India, is located in the vicinity of the Statue of Unity.

Westlife Development has provided employment to 28 women from nearby villages, a statement said. With this new launch, Westlife now operates 45 McDonald’s restaurants in Gujarat.

“It is our honor to launch our first female employee-led drive-thru restaurant in Ekta Nagar – on the land of the iconic Statue of Unity. We are confident that this initiative will enable us to strengthen our commitment to diversity Promoting inclusion as well as communities by bringing more women from the region into the workforce, said Smita Jatia, MD, Westlife Development.

Further, Jatiya said that the women crew running this restaurant has been trained as per the FSSAI guidelines on all necessary safety, hygiene and other restaurant procedures.

As per the details, Westlife Development through its subsidiary Hardcastle Restaurants Pvt Ltd holds franchisees to own and operate McDonald’s restaurants in the West and South markets of India. It operates 326 McDonald’s restaurants in 47 cities in the region.
